have read this book and it is all that. It is sad, at times I cried. Sometimes, Leah, the main character is scandalous, so I got pissed. I hated when she was sleeping with other women's husbands and had the audacity to call the women and tell. I felt so sorry for her, because as a little girl she went through more than any young black girl should have to. I was praying for her sometimes.
Man, talk about a dysfunctional family.
But this book just made me think about all of my friends and the girls in my family over the years. I wondered how many of them have the same problem this woman had and just didn't know. I know plenty of women that are now full-fledged crack-head prostitutes, shoot I wonder if some of them have this same mental problem.
Then I think this really ought to make black women think before they jump up and get pregnant by a man that they know don't want them. Because, when the baby is born if he don't want to be there, he won't be. And you r left to raise the baby by yourself. Trust me, I have friends that have babies by dudes just because he had pretty hair or pretty eyes...then no matter how pretty the baby was or how it looked like the dad, the sucker still didn't want her or the baby. This book shows us how people prey on children who don't have fathers. I believe this girl would have had a lot better life if she had her daddy in her life.
